With the connection field, you can connect a pipe to another pipe or a pipe to a database, so that information flows between them.
If you have a process that depends on another process and you want to add the option to create/connect cards or records from a database, the connection field is ideal. With it, data can be shared directly in the process phases.
📌 Important: When creating a connection field between pipes or between a pipe and a database, you will automatically grant access to the data contained in the connected pipe/table and existing cards/records.
Connecting pipes
Let's use a purchasing process as an example to explain how the connection between two pipes works.
In this example, when a card reaches the "Purchase Order" phase, we want to create a card connected to the "Accounts Payable" pipe to process the order. This way, the order information is carried out to the "Accounts Payable" process, and its history can be easily consulted in both pipes.

Connecting a pipe and a database
Let's continue with the purchasing process example to explain the connection between a pipe and a database.
When an employee needs to make a purchase requisition, instead of entering their information manually (such as name, email, telephone, etc.), they can simply use the connection field to search for their team member record within the database, which already contains all data.
Besides saving time when creating new requests, you can track specific records using the database connection field.

After creating a connection field, you can filter records in progress/active (those linked to a card) or see only completed ones.
Update cards and database records using automation
When you make connections between two pipes or between a pipe and a database, it is possible to update data from cards and records automatically with the rules you define. For example, if a certain field of a card is filled in pipe 1, another card field is automatically filled in pipe 2.
The same goes for the database, with records that can be automatically updated based on what happens during the process, saving time and keeping the entire operation integrated.
