A Kanban board enables you to organize work items into different columns. These columns represent distinct phases of a request, task, order, hire, ticket, or any other activity in your process.
For example, a simple To-do List can be made of different phases: To-Do → Doing → Done.
As the activities move across the columns, it means that they are progressing through the phases of the process. And, as they arrive at the final phase, it means that they are done.
This view type makes it easy to visually track the progress of a process, and identify what needs to be done, at what time, and who is assigned to do the task. Also, it is particularly effective for cross-collaborative work.
Kanban components
Phase
A phase, that is represented by a distinct column, is a step of the process. It means that every card in a Kanban board needs to go through until it is completed.
You can create as many phases as you want in a pipe, and customize your process as it evolves.
Card
A card is an individual work item that needs to be completed in one phase before it is moved to another phase, and, completed.
A card can be a task, job candidate or job opening, a marketing campaign request, a purchase order, an IT support ticket, a bug report, or anything else that needs to pass through a process in order to complete the big picture.
